Adaptive technologies are ones that assist those with disabilities. For example, the podcast talks about people with dyslexia and how there are adaptive technologies like spell check and voice recognitions so they can hear what they type to avoid making typical dyslexic mistakes. There are also technologies for people that are deaf or blind. They have tools for classrooms such as smart boards and braille keyboards to read the words written on the smartboard and hear the letters they type on the braille keyboard. They also have many interactive learning programs that help students learn sign language. I have never used these technologies, but I have a friend who is physically disabled so it was hard for her to write in elementary school, so she would talk to something kind of like siri on the iphone that would type for her whatever she was saying. Some challenges with using these technologies are that they are specific for the person with the disability and not every student in the roo

I enjoy using twitter in the classroom. I think it is a fun and interactive way to share our thoughts with our classmates. It's purpose is similar to a blog, to communicate our thoughts, however, Twitter is a lot more condensed and shorter. I think it is also one of the coolest assignments we do in this class because it is something we all use in our actual lives. Outside of this class I have many social media accounts that I use for my personal life. I think it is interesting to see how these social medias can be used for an educational purpose as well. So far, I have learned a lot about saying what I want to say in a condensed way. It is easy to get your point across when writing a blog because you have unlimited words and characters. However, with my Twitter, I have had to learn how to condense my thoughts into one or two sentences. The only challenge I have had with twitter so far is remembering to do it. Sometimes, I forget to update my account because it's not posted on o

https://sites.google.com/a/glastonburyus.org/hopewell/home If parents go on the main page of Hopewell Elementary Schools website, they can access all kinds of information. One part that I think would be especially informative to parents is the school schedule. All sorts of PTO meetings, school pictures, book fairs, etc. This is a good thing for parents to have electronically because if you give kids the information, it sometimes doesn't make it to the parents. The main page also has all of the school's contact information and hours. If parents go beyond the home page, they can click on staff directory and then find their child's teacher to get specific class information. Let's say my kid was in Mrs. Drury's 4th grade class for example. When you click on her specific information you can see when her class has specials on specific days. She also has tabs for what students learned each month. For example, if I click on "December news" on her website I can

I believe that Web 2.0 technologies can be very useful in the classroom. A lot of my teachers in K-12 used blog-like activities in our classrooms. They used these to track our progress from the beginning of the year until end and keep us engaged weekly. Teachers also commonly used youtube, Vimeo, and other video websites to virtually support what they are teaching in their classrooms. While being in this class I have learned a lot about Web 2.0 technologies I can use in my classroom when I become a teacher. For example, Twitter is a really good way to start class discussions and let students share their thoughts on a daily basis. All of these Web 2.0 technologies are so beneficial in the classroom that it would be wasteful if they weren't used. https://www.skype.com/en/ Skype is a Web 2.0 tool I can use in my classroom. Skype is a good way to interact directly with people all around the country. I remember when I was in elementary school, my teachers would set up Skype phone ca

The experiences I have had with Twitter thus far for this class have been interesting. I have never used twitter before this class so I am just getting used to how it works. It was very easy to get the hang of and I enjoy seeing the things my peers are tweeting. I have mostly been interacting with people who tweet about the assignments they are doing because I am usually doing the same one. It is interesting to see the reasons my classmates think the assignments are beneficial. Another thing I like about using the class twitter is for reading articles people are sharing. A lot of them are really interesting and give me a better understanding of this class. Twitter in general is a really good way to get your message out there. Many famous and important people use twitter daily as a source of communication. For example, our president Donald Trump tweets almost daily to keep his people updated on his thoughts, whether we like what he is saying or don't. I think twitter could be benefi
