I will use the data collection tools quite frequently when I become a teacher. It will good to use especially as an elementary teacher to get information on what the student's understand and don't so I can know what areas I need to focus more on teaching. Also, it will be helpful to use in the elementary level for surveying kids on what they are interested in, because when a student is interested in something they are more inclined to pay attention and understand a lesson. Therefore, if I could incorporate what my students are interested in in my lessons I will help them retain more information.  One topic I found most interesting about reading my classmates blogs was the way the type of technologies they used in high school and how much it differed from mine. In my school, we had all kinds of technology sources, but in the blogs I read of some of my classmates, I noticed they didn't use as much. Another thing I found interesting about reading their blogs was they way

The idea of a flipped classroom, is that it is the flipped idea of what a typical classroom is like. Typically, the teachers lecture and the students ocasionally discuss in the classroom. Then, the students go home and do their assigned homework on the topic they have studied. In a flipped classroom, the students are expected to watch lectures online, on their own time before coming into class. In the actual classroom time, the students further their learning of the concepts they are already learned for homework. These activities can include discussions, worksheets, labs, etc. One link that I found that I actually used in my AP Biology class was bozeman science. In Bozeman's videos, he deeply explains different advanced science topics through diagrams and drawings. http://www.bozemanscience.com/ap-biology/ Open content is when a company or business who maintains a license to a set of information shares their information to the public free of charge, typically through digital me

Adaptive technologies are ones that assist those with disabilities. For example, the podcast talks about people with dyslexia and how there are adaptive technologies like spell check and voice recognitions so they can hear what they type to avoid making typical dyslexic mistakes. There are also technologies for people that are deaf or blind. They have tools for classrooms such as smart boards and braille keyboards to read the words written on the smartboard and hear the letters they type on the braille keyboard. They also have many interactive learning programs that help students learn sign language. I have never used these technologies, but I have a friend who is physically disabled so it was hard for her to write in elementary school, so she would talk to something kind of like siri on the iphone that would type for her whatever she was saying. Some challenges with using these technologies are that they are specific for the person with the disability and not every student in the roo

I enjoy using twitter in the classroom. I think it is a fun and interactive way to share our thoughts with our classmates. It's purpose is similar to a blog, to communicate our thoughts, however, Twitter is a lot more condensed and shorter. I think it is also one of the coolest assignments we do in this class because it is something we all use in our actual lives. Outside of this class I have many social media accounts that I use for my personal life. I think it is interesting to see how these social medias can be used for an educational purpose as well. So far, I have learned a lot about saying what I want to say in a condensed way. It is easy to get your point across when writing a blog because you have unlimited words and characters. However, with my Twitter, I have had to learn how to condense my thoughts into one or two sentences. The only challenge I have had with twitter so far is remembering to do it. Sometimes, I forget to update my account because it's not posted on o

https://sites.google.com/a/glastonburyus.org/hopewell/home If parents go on the main page of Hopewell Elementary Schools website, they can access all kinds of information. One part that I think would be especially informative to parents is the school schedule. All sorts of PTO meetings, school pictures, book fairs, etc. This is a good thing for parents to have electronically because if you give kids the information, it sometimes doesn't make it to the parents. The main page also has all of the school's contact information and hours. If parents go beyond the home page, they can click on staff directory and then find their child's teacher to get specific class information. Let's say my kid was in Mrs. Drury's 4th grade class for example. When you click on her specific information you can see when her class has specials on specific days. She also has tabs for what students learned each month. For example, if I click on "December news" on her website I can
